CommScope to Unveil New High-Density, Ultra-Low Loss FastSelfClean Fiber-Optic Connector Technology

CommScope to reveal new design at the Computex 2026 show; FastSelfClean technology represents a new approach to reducing loss in data centers’ fiber networks 

Claremont, NC, May 28, 2026 – CommScope, an Amphenol company, today announced the upcoming debut of their new FastSelfClean™ high-density fiber connectivity technology at the Amphenol booth at the Computex 2026 show in Taipei, Taiwan. 

FastSelfClean technology enables unique fiber-optic connector designs that provide exceptionally low insertion loss due to its V-groove fiber seating, which keeps fibers aligned during connection. The technology is designed to be modular and stackable to enable different high fiber-count connector designs. 

As designed, FastSelfClean connector technology will enable faster deployment of scale up and scale out networks in AI data centers by facilitating the connection of an entire rack-scale system in a 1RU panel, requiring only 24 physical connections to serve 3,456 fibers. Deployment time will also be reduced thanks to the connector design’s self-cleaning capability that actively cleans fiber end-faces with each insertion, virtually eliminating routine fiber inspection and cleaning at installation, a unique benefit over ferule-based connectors. 

FastSelfClean technology is planned to be released in a 144-fiber connector in 2027 for worldwide distribution.

Highlights of the upcoming FastSelfClean connector solution: 

  • Designed to deliver exceptionally low insertion loss compared to ferrule and lensed connectors due to V-groove fiber seating that improves fiber alignment. 
  • Fibers remain concealed and protected from contamination until mated. 
  • Fiber end faces are actively gel-cleaned with each insertion, reducing fiber end-face contamination risks. 
  • Modular, stackable connector engine design will enable customization using 8-, 12- or 16-fiber ribbons. 
  • Designed for high-fiber count connections; initial product release will feature 144 fibers in a single connector (FSC144). 
  • Capable of connecting 3,456 fibers in 1RU in just 24 connections, speeding deployments of optical networks. 
  • Up to 98.5% reduction in fiber connection installation time.
